What is Gestalt?

     

Gestalt is a trauma-informed and holistic method of psychotherapy used to help people heal and gain self-awareness to live a peaceful and fulfilling life. The word Gestalt is a German term and loosely translates into “a journey toward wholeness”. This methodology, which has been around since the 1930’s, focuses on the whole person-body, mind and soul-and your experience in the present moment. Gestalt coaching is transformational work and has proven effectiveness in helping people heal through somatic, whole person experiences.

Gestalt work is typically done in person but has recently been transferrable, to some degree, to virtual sessions. Gestalt offers true healing and much more than just managing symptoms. It is creative and tailored to each unique client or couple and each session is different.  Clients report a lasting sense of feeling lighter, painful memories carry less emotional charge, and they are able to move forward in life with more self-awareness, more self-compassion, more confidence and a stronger sense of connection in their relationships.

The Equine Gestalt Coaching Method® was developed by Melisa Pearce,  a core founder since 1989, of the horse-­human healing movement. The experiential nature of the method involves the horse as an active partner with the coach in the client’s exploratory process. The integrative approach of the equine’s interaction combined with positive coaching, somatic awareness guidance and Gestalt methodology, assists the client in examining their life and choices made
with a focus on designing a positive future.
